PCA Members Workshop: Coloring Metal With Mary K McGraw

All types of artists are welcome to attend this workshop that focuses on using metal in jewelry, as the techniques you will learn can be used in all types of art. If you’ve ever wanted to explore the process of using & coloring metal – this one is for you! Explore metal while creating a unique piece of jewelry!

Mary K will cover alternative surface techniques to achieve color, texture, and unique surfaces on copper sheeting & brass accents. You’ll experiment with torch firing, patinas, embossing, colored pencils, nail polish and many other fun and quick techniques and cover cold connections – eyelets, rivets, and nuts & bolts.

$15.00 Kit includes everything you need to participate*: Several pieces of 24g copper sheeting; Brass sheeting for accent metal; Copper wire – 20/18/26 gauges; Cold connections – eyelets, rivets, nuts and bolts; Use of torches and fuel; Use of patinas and other colorants; Misc beads; Use of tools – anvil, bench block, metal scissors, hammers, texturizing hammers, hole punches, pliers and other hand tools

*Participants are encouraged to bring their own personal tools, beads, and found items.Lunch is $10: You may bring your own or order from Willow’s Tea Room for $10 (cash only please), includes choice of sandwich, chips, and drink, and delivery.
